Class size: 300 science students every semester

This is a compulsory course for all first year students studying BSc and BEdBSc, and it aims to equip students with basic skills of logical and quantitative reasoning. My responsibility includes developing lecture and tutorial materials, and designing assessments. I deliver lectures on Difference Equations, Calculus and Differential Equations as well as their applications on scientific inquiries.

In the external examiner report in 2016 - 17, Professor Daniel Stein from New York University commented that

"I think the rigor and level here is just superb, and is at world-class and probably beyond in terms of mathematical complexity. That is, difference equations could be brought out in the study of some physical phenomenon, perhaps as part of a computer simulation. Such an inter-weaving of the themes may make the math much more exciting and motivate more engagement by the students, when they see how useful it is."
